Before you apply

Roughly one in three applications gets rejected. Usually for the same four reasons.

None of them are complicated — they're just easy to get wrong when you're filling the portal yourself at 11 pm. Our team checks all of this during the survey, before you spend a rupee.

  • The bill must be in the applicant's name. If the connection is in your father's name, the application uses his Aadhaar — not yours.
  • Aadhaar must be linked to the bank account. The subsidy arrives by Direct Benefit Transfer; an unlinked account simply fails.
  • No previous rooftop subsidy on the same property. One connection, one claim.
  • The vendor must be registered. Install through an unregistered fitter and no amount of paperwork afterwards will rescue the claim.

The claim, step by step

You sign twice. We do the other eleven things.

This is the sequence on the national portal. We run it for every customer at no charge — it's part of the installation, not an add-on service.

01

Registration

Your consumer number, DISCOM and state are registered on pmsuryaghar.gov.in.

02

Feasibility

DISCOM checks your connection and sanctioned load, then approves the capacity.

03

Installation

We install with registered-vendor details recorded against your application.

04

Net meter

DISCOM installs the bidirectional meter and issues the commissioning certificate.

05

Money lands

Bank details submitted; the subsidy hits your account in about 30–45 days.

Keep these ready

Six documents. That's the whole file.

Clear phone photos are fine. Our team scans, names and uploads them for you during the survey visit.

Latest electricity bill

Shows your consumer number, DISCOM and sanctioned load. The name on it decides whose Aadhaar is used.

Aadhaar card

Of the person named on the electricity bill, with the mobile number currently linked.

Bank passbook or cheque

The account must be Aadhaar-seeded, since the subsidy comes by Direct Benefit Transfer.

Proof of ownership

Property tax receipt, sale deed or allotment letter — whichever your state's DISCOM accepts.

Roof photograph

A simple wide shot of the terrace, showing available shadow-free area.

Society NOC

Only for apartments and gated developments — a one-page no-objection from the committee.

Subsidy questions

What people ask us before signing.

You pay the full system cost, and the subsidy is credited afterwards by the government straight to your bank account. It never routes through Sagun Solar. Any vendor offering to "adjust the subsidy in the bill" is doing something the scheme doesn't allow — ask them to show you where that's written.

Often yes — but only if your consumption justifies it. The subsidy stops at ₹78,000, so the extra 2 kW is fully at your cost, and it pays back on the strength of your tariff and usage alone. If your monthly bill is under about ₹3,500, a 3 kW system is usually the smarter buy. We'll tell you which one your bill actually supports.

PM Surya Ghar is a residential scheme, so commercial and industrial connections don't qualify. Businesses have a different, often better route: accelerated depreciation on the asset plus a much higher tariff being displaced. For rented homes, the application must be made by whoever the electricity connection belongs to.

Several states add their own top-up over the central amount, and the terms change from year to year. Because these are state-specific and revised often, we check your state's current position at the time of your survey rather than quoting a figure here that may already be out of date. You can also verify anything on pmsuryaghar.gov.in.

We follow up on the portal on your behalf until it's credited — that's part of what you're buying. In practice, delays are almost always a mismatch in bank or Aadhaar details, which is exactly why we verify all of it before submitting rather than after.
